I’ve always wondered if Naina would have fallen for Bunny, had they met in Delhi, instead of a trek in Manali. I know, that if not for Corsica, love wouldn’t have happened for Tara and Ved over dinner or a movie date. There must be an element of magic in the wild that brings people together. There’s something in the mountains, the clouds and the skies that set the scene right, as the twittering birds or gushing waterfall play the background scores. For couples on the Amarnath Yatra to ones strolling along Marine Drive on a rainy evening, it’s nature that plays the real cupid. There are two types of people: one, who find ‘the love of their life’ in the outdoors, and the other, who take ‘the love of their life’ to the outdoors. “My boyfriend and I went to Jibhi just after winter, at a time when the valley had not yet opened to tourists. The place was a gorgeous, ghost town. One morning we took a walk into the woods, following the sound of a waterfall to find it surrounded by a blue-pool. I had carried a little picnic basket, with whiskey and chakna and set-up our bar counter on a high-seating wall. We got wasted and ran in circles and dizzying races until we collapsed onto the leaf-strewn ground. That day spent drunk-picnicking has to be our cutest and most romantic date ever.”

“We were in Manali, with a group of friends when I decided to steal her away for the day. We rented a bike and rode up to Sethan, where we happened to find a campsite with aerial tents. Yes, you imagined that right. The tent was suspended on hill-top, between three trees, and had a transparent, meshed canopy. We lay there all afternoon gazing up the blue sky that peeked out at us from in between the tall, pine trees. Dusk drew our roof into a shroud of black, with the most stars I’ve ever seen. It’s definitely been one of our best date nights”

“To celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday, we decided to do an alpine-style trek to a high-altitude frozen lake in Lahaul. When we took off from the base village, most people who saw two girls together said we wouldn’t finish, the weather wasn’t right, and that there was no one else along the route. All of that just added to the thrill. As the sun set, it got increasingly windy and we knew it would be impossible to pitch a tent. In the most serendipitous of ways, we happened to find a shepherd’s cave that was perfectly walled off with rocks that blocked the wind. It housed two containers of water, a small fireplace and tongs. This unexpected turn of events gave us this cute little lodging for the night, bonfire and all. She cooked a lovely meal and we crawled into our double sleeping bag (*wink, wink*) as one fire doused out, while others lit up.”

“So Sacred Games had just released, and I was dying to watch it. Unfortunately, I had to wait a little longer because I took off on a road-trip to Spiti with my girlfriend. You know how the 250km into Spiti is great and everything’s perfect, but once the trip is over and you gotta return, every second of that journey is bloody painful. The ride back really tests your relationship. By the end, we had really had enough of each other and there were pretty much silences all along. The water holes along the route were getting deeper as night fell, so we decided to camp out at Batal. It was then that I knew that she’s the one, as she pulled out her phone that had all 8 episodes of Sacred Games downloaded. We fastened the phone to the selfie stick and hung it upside-down from the centre of the tent. At 4000m high, in the middle of nowhere, wrapped-up in our sleeping bags at 4 degrees, we had the ultimate Netflix and Chill.”
