Training for Rock Climbing Projects with Sandeep Maity

Experience the journey of a well-known Boulderer Sandeep Maity as he talks about what it is to climb a rugged rock. ‘Don’t just stick to Gym, the World starts outside it.” …..  4play interviews Sandeep as he talks about all the highs and the lows while training for Rock Climbing project.

Sandeep Maity, who first started climbing at the age of 12, when he was fascinated by the climbing wall at his school in Delhi, the 24-year old is now one of India’s leading boulderers. With many hard ascents to his credit, he has also represented the country at the IFSC World Cups quite a number of times.

In 2013, he became the first Indian to compete at the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) Bouldering World Cup, held in Millau, France. He made his mark in the Rock Climbing circuit when he stood second in the Open Category at Rockmaster 2014, making it his first win at an international event.

Bouldering is the purest form of Climbing. No ropes, no harnesses, nothing, just you, some climbing shoes, a little chalk for your hands. Though that may sound like a cakewalk when compared with rock climbing, it isn’t. Bouldering makes up for its lack of vertical distance with technical difficulty.
